EcoLatino Dance Competition Results

EcoLatino Magazine hosted a dance competition on Wednesday, June 6, here at The Landing. Metro PCS presented the winners with their checks:

  • 1st Place– Montana, $2,500
  • 2nd Place– Tamara, $1,500
  • 3rd Place– Morgan & Josh, $1,000

Montana won 1st Place in the dance competition

Tamara won 2nd place in the dance competition

Morgan & Josh placed 3rd

There were many different types of dances performed by contestants at the event. One group performed an African Tribal Dance. They brought their own drummers so they could set the right rhythm, beat, and mood for the dancers! Other types of dances included ballet, hip-hop, cha cha, and much more.

The amount of dancers in each performance ranged from 4 members, to partner dancing as well as solo dancing.  There were a total of 20 contestants in the competition. The judges gave useful feedback to the dancers after he/she completed his/her dance.

The judges chose the final three dancers and  they performed one more dance. Once the final three were finished with their second performance, the audience chose the winner by cheering and applause. The host measured the level of cheering on a very useful phone app with the help of MetroPCS. The dancer with the highest peak in  noise was announced the winner.

Montana came in first place with her performance of a beautiful ballet piece. Tamara came in second place and also performed a ballet piece. Morgan and Josh came in third with a performance called “Nerd Swag” that showcased their hip hop dancing skills.
